BACKGROUND

For as long as I can remember, I’ve been crazy about horses – and have always had one.  Growing up in Hawaii, I had opportunities to learn from talented trainers who helped me understand the basics of horsemanship.  Having competed in various disciplines including dressage, jumping, western pleasure, trail, and even gymkhana, I came to realize that success would always come from my horses having a solid foundation. I am intent on continuing to develop my knowledge and skills and regularly add new “tools” to my horse training kit.

I've been riding for 35 years and training professionally for over 21 years.  I've had many types of horses in training, including Warmbloods, Quarter Horses, Icelandics, Walkers, Thoroughbreds, Arabians, Fjords, Friesians, Morgans, draft horses, Haflingers, Paso Finos, mules, mixed breeds, Dutch harness horses, and others.  I’ve worked wild horses, seasoned show horses, and everything in between. My students have ranged from complete beginners to intermediate riders seeking to improve their skills to seasoned competitors.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe riding and training should be enjoyable and safe experiences for you and your horse. I work with respect for both horse and rider to determine realistic goals, and then develop a plan to achieve those goals based on the situation, talents, and desires of all parties involved. Each training/lesson situation is unique, so my job as a trainer is to get to know my clients and tailor a program that will fit their particular needs.
